The Society aims to develop the appreciation and enjoyment of music, particularly singing, by rehearsing and presenting concerts. It is affiliated to "Making Music".

The continually expanding repertoire encompasses music from mediaeval times to the present, ranging from large choral works through lighter pieces to songs and carols. There are four sections in the Choir - Soprano, Contralto, Tenor and Bass, though for many works each section may also split into "Firsts" and "Seconds".
