Wanting to join the choir?
 
There may be a waiting list for new members. If you are interested, please speak to the choir's Chairperson, Isabelle Kingston , Ken Mortimer, the Secretary or Gill Mortimer, the Musical Director. We are not an auditioned choir but we would prefer you to have had a little musical experience in the past. If you decide to join the choir, the Treasurer will discuss the subscription arrangements with you. Please feel free to ask questions about anything that concerns you.
 
When & where does the choir rehearse?
 
The choir rehearses on Monday evening at Christchurch in Marlborough. See the rehearsals page for more details including a map. During concert weeks an extra rehearsal may be held on the Wednesday evening and there is an afternoon rehearsal on the day of the concert.
 
What about sight reading?
Whilst we don't insist that you are a perfect sight-reader it is important that you can sight-read resonably well. We always have a lot of music to get through for a concert and we aim to minimise 'note bashing' during rehearsals.
 
How big is the choir?
 
The choir has approximately 60 members.
 
What does the choir wear?
 

For the Christmas and Spring Concerts we do have a "uniform":

 

  • For men: Black Dinner Jacket and black bow tie.
  • For ladies: A plain black long-sleeved blouse, full-length black skirt or trousers, worn with the Choir's own scarf (which can be purchased from the Treasurer at £6.) Black shoes. Jewellery at your discretion.

For the Summer Concert we all wear brightly-coloured summer clothes (your choice).

For rehearsals there is no special dress code, so just dress comfortably.
